IWentToCamp.org started in 2016 as an effort by a handful of long-time staff of Washington State Leadership Programs to ensure that students in Washington continue to have access to its programs and facilities for years to come.

Many of us started out as delegates of summer leadership camp ourselves (and then never left!), or have long been on staff.  And as many of us have grown up and moved on to careers either in or outside education, we realized how many times each of us would tell the story of where we spend a week of our summer each year… only yo have someone say, “I went to camp!” The organizing committee members realize the importance of shared experiences and history – so our initial areas of focus are these:

Engage current and former staff and delegates, their families and friends, or leadership staff and delegates from other state programs, and give them a place to re-connect with each other, Ensure the longevity of the programs of the Association of Washington Student Leaders and its facilities.

IWentToCamp.org will be a place to learn about AWSL’s history, share memories, make connections, and learn how you can ensure the longevity of AWSL programs and facilities – so that youth in Washington will have safe, fun, and welcoming schools for years to come.

And we’re just getting started!
